We are Maranatha which means "The Lord is Coming" or "Come, O Lord".
We are Christian because we are followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus was the Son of God. Our most important beliefs about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, creation, and the Bible are shared with Christians around the world.
We are Reformed because we strive to grow in our faithfulness to what the Bible teaches us and belong to the Christian Reformed Church in North America.
We are a Church because God's Spirit partners us together as a people who belong to Him and are called to live for Him in support and service to our community and beyond.

Maranatha's history
Maranatha began as a sister church to Rehoboth Christian Reformed Church of Bowmanville in 1964. The high membership at Rehoboth allowed for the organization of a second Christian Reformed Church in town, and the division of the churches was determined by geographical location. Any members west of Liberty Street would remain part of Rehoboth and anyone East of Liberty Street would form the new congregation of Maranatha.
From 1964 to 1969 Maranatha met for worship services at Knox Christian School in Bowmanville. In 1969 services were moved to the current church building located on King Street (2805 Highway 2 East, Bowmanville. This moved allowed Maranatha to establish a stronger presence within the Bowmanville community and the congregation experienced many blessings and growth over the years.
In 1996 a substantial addition updated the building to include more meeting rooms, an enlarged Fellowship Hall, a new and larger kitchen, and more spacious nursery rooms. Maranatha's building today provides an inviting atmosphere for Sunday worship services, and offer facilities for a wide variety of uses throughout the week.
Looking forward, we continue to see God at work with the people of Maranatha. We are committed to welcoming visitors to Maranatha as they join in worship and new members as they use their spiritual gifts to enhance our praise of God. We pray for God's continued blessing as we strive to share the love of Christ with all people.
